Shares of some top machinery companies were up at the close of trading:
Caterpillar rose $.97 or 1.7 percent, to $56.46.
Deere rose $.91 or 2.0 percent, to $47.21.
Manitowoc rose $.38 or 3.9 percent, to $10.14.
Terex rose $.81 or 4.0 percent, to $21.06.
